What Are The Benefits Of JEUVEAU™?

Jeuveau™ is known for its ability to treat moderate to severe frown lines more effectively than previous injectable treatments. Similar to BOTOX® Cosmetic, the wrinkle-softening formula is designed to relax the muscles in the area of injection. This can help to smooth existing expression lines and temporarily prevent the deepening of wrinkles caused by hyperactive facial muscles. JEUVEAU™ VS. BOTOX® Cosmetic

Jeuveau™ works similarly to BOTOX® Cosmetic, but this new injectable is sometimes preferred as a treatment for frown lines since it was formulated specifically to target glabellar wrinkles. The longevity of results achieved by Jeuveau™ is also comparable to BOTOX® Cosmetic, with some cases of Jeuveau™ treatment even outlasting the results of its predecessor. Due to their similarities, some consider Jeuveau™ the “next generation” of BOTOX® Cosmetic.

How Is Treatment With JEUVEAU™ Performed?

Jeuveau™ is injected in a 15 to 30 minute treatment session at our Scarsdale-area practice. After confirming that Jeuveau™ is the best solution to achieve your goals, your injector will meticulously deliver small amounts of Jeuveau™ to muscles located in the glabella, or eyebrow, region. This should temporarily inhibit movement between the brows, effectively diminishing the appearance of frown lines. Some redness is expected, but swelling and discomfort is usually minimal. If desired, Dr. Goldberg can apply a mild numbing agent to the injection site before treatment to enhance the experience. There is typically no downtime after injections and you may return to your normal routine immediately.

How Long Does JEUVEAU™ Last?

Jeuveau™ can soften frown lines for approximately three to four months after injections, although some patients experience longer-lasting results. The effects of Jeuveau™ should become apparent within a few days after treatment. It is often helpful to receive touch-up treatments once the outcome begins to fade for year-long rejuvenation. We typically recommend three treatments per year as an optimal treatment plan, but our experienced medical team will advise you based on your individual needs and concerns.

How Can I Preserve My JEUVEAU™ Results?

Although results from cosmetic injectables will always be temporary, certain measures may help you maximize the rejuvenation achieved with Jeuveau™. In general, deep frown lines can be minimized by using sun protection daily and avoiding certain activities that can prematurely age the skin, such as smoking and artificial tanning. A healthy diet rich in antioxidants, along with getting plenty of sleep, are also known to improve the quality of the skin. Finally, applying high-quality wrinkle-reducing skincare products can help soften existing frown lines and even extend the timeframe between touch-up treatments.

Does JEUVEAU™ Have Any Side Effects?

While Jeuveau™ is considered a safe non-surgical treatment with a minimal risk of severe side effects, some reactions may occur at the injection site. Redness, discomfort, bruising, and headaches are all possible after treatment, although most patients do not experience uncomfortable after-effects. Should they occur, over-the-counter medication should provide relief until adverse reactions naturally resolve. It’s generally recommended to avoid rubbing the treatment area after injections to help lower the risk of complications. The likelihood of side effects can also be reduced by ensuring you receive treatment from a plastic surgeon-supervised practice. More often than not, facilities led by a board-certified aesthetic surgeon are able to offer a higher standard of care when compared to med spas that do not have a doctor available on-site.

Are There Alternatives To JEUVEAU™?

Yes, Dr. Goldberg offers surgical and non-surgical alternatives to Jeuveau™ that may serve as more effective solutions to refresh the brow area for certain patients. If you’re looking for a frown line treatment that offers more enduring results than the outcomes Jeuveau™ can provide, you may be interested in a brow lift. This cosmetic procedure is designed to reduce aging in the upper face by lifting and repositioning a drooping brow, as well as removing excess skin along the forehead. In turn, frown lines can be significantly reduced without the need for frequent touch-up treatments.

For patients who would rather not undergo surgery, BOTOX® Cosmetic is a time-tested wrinkle reduction treatment that has been used to combat facial aging for decades. The treatment process for BOTOX® Cosmetic closely resembles the protocol for Jeuveau™ injections, and results often last for approximately the same length of time.
